The Fly-Gobbling Pooch
Role: Illustration & Animation
My beloved dog, who is the best, most amusing, and most handsome boy, enjoys chasing flies. He doesn't often catch them, but watching him leap at windows in hopes of success always makes me laugh.
Using slow motion footage of him catching treats that I threw for him, I took screenshots of the key poses for reference (there’s a gif below, it’s very grainy), drew them on Procreate, and then imported them into Photoshop for coloring and textures.
The animation was created in After Effects and mostly consists of shapes that morph as the action takes place (there are a lot of keyframes). The textures came from Photoshop and were looped inside After Effects. No flies were harmed in the making of this animation.
